Sweater, Christmas Project 2014

We have been praying about what to give this year to the children of Tijuana. The Lord brought back memories of last year when children from AMA and three local churches received a total of 120 sweaters. We would love to give them one again this year, but we need your help!

We would also like to ask if you feel led to help with our church’s youth Christmas party and ladies’ Christmas celebration. Many of these youth and ladies don’t receive anything for Christmas. We want to rejoice with them and let them know how much they are loved by God!

Our need for 100 sweaters amounts to $900. For the ladies and youth the need is $200 per event.
A total of $1,300 is needed by December 15th.

Thank you for always having a willing heart to help those in need of Tijuana.
We thank God for your partnership in this ministry.

Rejoice with us!

Dear Friends,

Many of you have asked about my dad’s health.  He went to see a specialist and after conducting several test they concluded (something we already knew by faith) that the tumor is benign.

He is on a treatment plan for the net four months to reduce the mass in his liver. After that the doctor will re-evaluate and determine if any follow steps are required. We are believing for a full reduction of the mass in his liver.

Thank you so much for uniting with us in prayer and believing for a miracle. We thank God for His faithfulness to my Dad and to our family.

Thank you for standing and rejoicing with us!

Praise and Prayer

Thank you for praying for our young men’s events this past Saturday. The day went better than expected and we know the Lord will do great things in their lives; the word has been planted.

On a separate note, we ask your prayers for my dad. He went to see a doctor over the weekend and has been diagnosed with a tumor in his liver. We believe in a God who heals and for whom nothing is impossible. Please pray with us! He will be seeing more doctors and we will keep you up to date.

Blessings,
Cristina Matus

This Saturday

On Saturday we will have our APV (Some Day My Princess Will Come) Abstinence Men’s event. We are hoping for high participation numbers for this not-so-popular but oh-so-necessary topic.

Our heart’s desire is that each young man present will be challenged by the Word and heed the call to live a life sanctified by God. Rene and Miguel will be presenting; please pray for them—for strength and a special anointing.

The prayers of the just accomplish much, and we are counting on your prayers.

Celebration

This weekend my family celebrated my sister Tabitha’s wedding. She is our miracle…
27 years ago as my Mom was battling with breast cancer, doctors told my mom to have an abortion in order to save her own life. She decided not to and gave her life so my sister could have life. Because of that, we could celebrate Tabitha and Adrian’s union. The Lord is faithful.

On a different note, we ask for your prayers as we begin our VBS at AMA Wednesday through Saturday of this week. Pray for us and the rest of the youth that will be helping us teach and work, and that many children would come to know Christ.

Also, a quick update on the girls’ APV camp, two more weeks to go. May God help us as we have so much to do! Pray for wisdom and strength. Pray for the girls that will be attending. And pray for the funds that are still needed, about $1,000.

Thank you for keeping us in your prayers!

Jacob Matthew Matus

We are blessed!

Baby Jacob Matthew was born at 10:50am on June 12. He weighed 8.3 pounds and is 23 inches long.
Ana Cristina is doing well and should be ready to go home by Saturday.

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous — how well
I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Psalms 139:13-16

Thank you for your prayers and love.

Halfway there…

As the date for our 8th annual girls abstinence camp quickly approaches we write to ask for your help.

Last week we had a phone call from the wife of a pastor in Ensenada (2 hrs west of Tijuana) asking us to pay for six girls in her congregation who hope to attend but do not have the means. They work in a migrant labor field all day to just get by. We ask attendees to come up with $25 for camp costs, and rest…. well, the rest is provided by the Lord using generous people like you! We want to be able to help these six, and so many others!

With just six weeks to go we still need more than half the funds. To date we have raised $2,600 of the target $6,000. Will you help us pray that the Lord will provide as He has done in the past? May this be the best one yet for the 300 expected girls.

The Lord is our provider!

Princesitas report

A couple weeks ago I was pretty frustrated about our third annual Princesitas event for young girls.
I was tired (being 30 weeks pregnant can do that to you) and discouraged at a lack of focus among the girls who were supposed to be helping. It seemed like it just wasn’t coming together and I was close to calling the whole thing off.

But then your prayers lifted us up over the weekend, and I was convicted yet again that it isn’t about me, or our leadership team, or what we think we can accomplish. It is all about Him. It’s about what He can do through us, and in spite of us.

This year was the best yet! The events of the day flowed nicely, everyone did their role well, and there was a positive energy among the leadership team, who all did their tasks with a smile.

We had 78 girls (ages 8-12) in attendance as well as 17 youth leaders from other churches and our team of 15.  Sixteen girls accepted Christ for the first time and we gifted two dozen Bibles!

Thank you for your prayers!

APV “Little Princess”

On Saturday we will be hosting our third annual APV “Little Princess” event for girls ages 8-12 and we covet your prayers. Our goal is to let these girls know how special they are as daughters of the true King. Our desire is to be used by the Lord to lead the girls to commit their lives to Him at this young age as He surrounds them with love. Pray that many may be many saved!

We will also be handing out information for the summer APV girls abstinence camp. We are in need of more loving, hard-working, and Godly staff to join the team, so please pray. God has already started providing towards this year’s budget and we have received $700 of the $6,000 needed; would you help us too?

Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!  Psalm 116:2

Miracle!

As many of you know, the doctor had found a couple of “spots” on our baby’s heart during an ultrasounds. Since then so many of you have been praying with us for healing.

Yesterday we went to see the pregnancy specialist and as she was doing the ultrasound she said, “Well, if there was something wrong with this baby’s heart it is gone. The baby looks perfectly normal and healthy; go celebrate!”

We rejoice in the Lord for hearing our plea and healing this little heart, and we give Him all the glory. Thank you for praying and believing with us in faith that the God we serve is not just an amazing God, but a powerful God!

Thank you,
Rene & Cristina
